Celebrate the holidays in downtown Toledo
Downtown Toledo loves the holiday season! We have so much going on and can’t wait to have you down here for all the festivities and cheer. Take a look at what’s planned for this year.
Performances
Handel’s “Messiah”
You have two opportunities to hear Handel’s “Messiah” this year: The Toledo Choral Society will be performing at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 28 at 4:30pm (tickets here) and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra will hold a performance at Rosary Cathedral on Sunday, December 5 at 3:00pm (tickets here).
For more than 35 years, the Toledo Repertoire Theatre has put on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmal Carol”. This year, the performances will be at their home theatre, the 10th Street Stage. Performances are December 2-5 and December 9-12. You may also buy streaming tickets.
Experience the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Huntington Center on Friday, December 3. TSO will play two shows, the first at 4:00pm and the second at 8:00pm.
All ages will love this festive holiday tradition of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra playing holiday music with Santa at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle on Saturday, December 4 at 3:00pm.
The Midtown Men’s Holiday Show
Celebrate Christmas with the sixties-style of The Midtown Men, starring the cast of Broadway’s original “Jersey Boys”. You’ll hear your holiday favorites, as well as the greatest hits from the 60s. The Midtown Men are performing at the Valentine Theatre on Sunday, December 5 at 7:00pm.
Hear Casting Crowns, Mac Powell, CAIN, Dante Bowe & Jordan St. Cyr at the Huntington Center for the K-Love Christmas Tour on Saturday, December 11 at 7pm.
Films
All Aboard! The “Polar Express” is being shown on the big screen at the Imagination Station KeyBank Discovery Theater. Pajamas are encouraged and there will be a chance to get your picture with Santa. Two screenings will be held on Saturday, December 4, the first at 10am and the second at 5:30pm.
See the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” in the gorgeous Valentine Theatre on Friday, December 17 at 7:30pm.
Interactive
Get a quick 5k in on Thanksgiving morning with us here in downtown at the Dave’s Turkey Chase 5k. There is also a Kids Turkey Chase and a One Mile Walk.
Have your Christmas Tree delivered in the most unique way, by Santa navigating the Maumee River on a tug boat! The Christmas Tree Ship will make its docking in Toledo on Saturday, December 4.
Tour a couple of decorated Old West End homes and enjoy high tea at the Libbey House for the Tours de Noel Winterfest. The tours and teas will be held on Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5.
Meet Santa Claus, hear musical acts and see the light displays in Promenade Park during Nights of Light. These are free and open to the public.

See the Casey-Pomeroy House outfitted for Christmas at the Vistula Foundation’s Vistula Victorian Christmas Tea on Saturday, December 11.
Sing your favorite carols while enjoying the best brews of Earnest Brew Works at their downtown location at the 4th Annual Carols and Ales on Sunday, December 19 at 6:00pm.
See more than 100 nativities from around the world at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Thursdays through Sundays beginning on Thanksgiving Day and running through Sunday, December 19.
Take a tour of downtown on a trolley decked out with holiday décor. The two-hour tour takes you to a few bars and Promenade Park to see all the lights. The trolley tour is offered at various dates and times.
Shopping
Do some gift shopping at the Holiday Night Market in the Grand Lobby of the Downtown Toledo Train Station on Saturday, December 11 from 4-11pm. Event includes, hot cocoa bar, gift wrapping station and live music.
Hockey
It’s time for some outdoor T-Town hockey action. The Toledo Walleye have taken over Fifth Third Field and will be playing two games on an ice rink constructed on the baseball field. In addition to Walleye games, there will be college games, youth games and open ice skate times.
