Mud Hens Opening Day(s) 2019 – A Downtown Toledo Holiday

Mud Hens Opening Day

 

Opening Day has turned into downtown’s most celebrated day of the year. Up to 30,000 people will fill downtown to celebrate a new season of the nation’s most famous minor-league sports team, the Toledo Mud Hens. Even fans who don’t have game tickets celebrate starting around noon and into the evening.

 

Here are the day’s highlights:

 

Get your swag:

Next to Holy Toledo Tavern and the Swamp Shop, Jupmode will be selling their baseball design and Toledo gear all day. They’ll be located at Washington and St. Clair streets.  The Swamp Shop is the Mud Hens official merchandise store and will open at 10 a.m. with hats, shirts, jackets, toys, stuffed Muddies and more.

 

Hensville Park:

Grab a beer or a pretzel and enjoy free, live music. St. Clair Street will be bustling with people.

Distant Cousinz: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Beg to Differ: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

 

Park Inn Hotel and Toledo Spirits:

Toledo Spirits is taking over the Clubhouse Lounge & Grille with drink specials from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.

 

Mud Hens Brewfest:

Eight beers to choose plus a great menu for $45 or $35 if you’re a designated driver. Get your tickets and join the fun inside 5/3rd Field on the Home Run Terrace. Beer vendors include: Columbus Brewing Company, Gold Road, Latitude 42, Maumee Bay, Platform Brewing Company, Saugatuck, Sweetwater Brewing and Warped Wing.

 

Live Music before THE GAME:

There’s lots of options for live music and great food selections at all our restaurants and pubs.

Cock n' Bull: DJ Franki Jaye & Hondo, 12 p.m.

Holy Toledo Tavern: Caveman & Ryan, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Fleetwood’s Tap Room: Andrew Ellis, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

 

THE GAME:

The world-famous Toledo Mud Hens take on the Louisville Bats at 4 p.m. The Mud Hens are the Triple A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Professional baseball has been played in Toledo since 1883 and at the 10,300 seat Fifth Third Field since 2002.

DORA:

Downtown Toledo offers you the ability to take an alcoholic beverage from a participating pub in a specially designated to-go cup. DORA, or Downtown Toledo Refreshment Area, allows you to take the fun to the outdoors and see your friends and all the activity on the street. But wait, there’s more!

Downtown has other activities happening too. Imagination Station and National Museum of the Great Lakes open at 10 a.m. with special activities for spring break. The YWCA is hosting a mixer at 5:30 p.m. at Black Kite Coffee & Pies. Toledo School for the Arts has their Percussion Concert at 7:00 p.m.
