Fourth in the 419
Fourth in the 419, presented by Taylor Automotive Group, is a multi-day downtown celebration leading up to Toledo’s preeminent Independence Day fireworks display on Wednesday, July 4. Tens of thousands of people will visit downtown on the 4th for an evening of fun, food and entertainment.
The Toledo Symphony will perform a live concert in Promenade Park that will begin at 9 p.m. and feature a spectacular program of patriotic favorites. The Fourth in the 419 fireworks and the Toledo Symphony concert grand finale will begin at 10 p.m. and feature Liberty Bell March, Fanfare for the Common Man, 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever. Due to the synchronization of the show, there will be three thirty-second pauses during the fireworks display. The fireworks show will last approximately 20 minutes.

Where to view the fireworks
There are multiple places throughout the downtown area where you will get a great view of the fireworks show. Each one offers a little something different.
Promenade Park
The park will open at 3 p.m. and admission is FREE to the public. There is a designated handicap entrance at the bottom of Jefferson Avenue near the ProMedica parking garage is a dedicated handicap entrance.
Hensville Park
The Grape Smugglers will entertain from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. from the Owens Corning Stage in Hensville Park. Gates open at 6 p.m. and admission is FREE to the public.
Rooftop and Patio Viewing
The Heights at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, H20 Café at Imagination Station, Fleetwood’s Tap Room and Holy Toledo Tavern in Hensville will all host viewing parties. Call ahead to make reservations and to check availability.
River Viewing
There are multiple viewing locations on both sides of the river including International Park, The Docks, the Middlegrounds Metropark, and Summit Street from Jefferson to Adams.
NOTE: The Middlegrounds parking lot has advanced reservations for overnight camping guests. Walk-in guests are welcome for viewing.
Can I bring a lawn chair or blanket?
Lawn chairs and blankets will be permitted in Promenade Park, Hensville Park and all public viewing areas.
Can I bring food and beverages into the Parks?
No outside food and beverages or coolers will be permitted inside Promenade or Hensville Parks. Beer, wine, water, pop and food will be available for purchase. Toledo DORA is operational. Please respect the boundaries. http://www.downtowntoledo.org/dora/
Parking Tips
Please note that the City of Toledo Division of Transportation and the Toledo Police Department will implement special traffic control measures on July 4. Be sure to give yourself ample time to reach your destination.
- Park on the side of downtown closest to your home or next
- Park only in the designated paved parking areas.
- Please be considerate and do not park in a restricted area. Tow trucks will be on duty to remove vehicles illegally parked prior to and throughout the events.
- Please do not block intersections when coming to or leaving the downtown Blocking intersections only adds to the amount of time that people will have to wait.
- If you are riding a bike, park it on Summit Street before entering the riverfront viewing areas
Boating Tips
The City of Toledo public docks at Promenade Park are free on a first-come, first served basis. The Coast Guard has a blast zone in effect leading up to the event and during the fireworks show. They will escort boaters out after the show.
Shuttle Service
TARTA will extend the Muddy Shuttle Service for an additional day to include the Fourth in the 419 Independence Day Celebration so you can enjoy a stress-free route without worries of traffic, congestion and parking.
