ConnecToledo launched supporting Downtown Toledo advancement and development
The Downtown Toledo Development Corporation (DTDC) is rebranding the organization and changing its name to ConnecToledo to better represent its mission and stated goals. The ConnecToledo name was launched in partnership with the Downtown Toledo Improvement District (DTID) at DTID’s annual meeting on November 17, 2017, representing the first of many collaborations to advance the revitalization efforts for downtown and the region.
“Downtown Toledo is experiencing a historic renaissance and a resurgence in investment,” says Rachel Bach, President and CEO of ConnecToledo. “Building on that momentum, we felt the time was right to rebrand DTDC to focus on what the development corporation is about: connecting public and private organizations to invest in downtown, connecting the public to downtown life through event and attraction promotion, and serving as an advocate for business.”
Among the initial areas of focus for ConnecToledo is evaluating and identifying investment opportunities, establishing downtown incentives including serving as a clearinghouse for redevelopment and finance tools, identifying strategic redevelopment and infill sites, advancing the nautical mile concept, and establishing a more coordinating downtown marketing and branding effort.
One critical aspect of moving forward with more unified downtown development is the new working relationship ConnecToledo and DTID solidified through a professional services agreement signed in September. To ensure greater efficiency and synergies between the two organizations, ConnecToledo will focus on strategy and investment and DTID will continue to deliver exceptional service to its members, market events and attractions under the “Downtown Toledo” brand, as well as work to provide hospitality, cleanliness and safety through the Downtown Ambassadors.
A first visible aspect of the ConnecToledo brand will be the launching of a new website, ConnecToledo.org, which will concentrate on real estate opportunities and resources available to support redevelopment. ConnecToledo, in collaboration with DTID, will promote activities and lifestyles through the popular DowntownToledo.org and its affiliate social media, focusing on communicating events, downtown maps, and information about visiting, working and living downtown.
